Caroline Louise Walker is a writer and artist whose work explores sense of place, shadow sides, perception and means of connection. She writes fiction and nonfiction and is represented by Joanna Volpe of New Leaf Literary and Media, Inc. in New York City.
Caroline has received fellowships and residencies from The Kerouac Project of Orlando, the Jentel Artist Residency Program and Hambidge Creative Residency Program. In the summer of 2015, she boarded a barquentine tall ship for the Arctic Circle Summer Solstice Expedition artist residency, marking the pinnacle of her journey tracing the path taken by Gerda in Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, “The Snow Queen.” In August 2016, Caroline presented related work at the Hans Christian Andersen Festival in Odense, Denmark. Learn more about her Snow Queen project here.
Before devoting herself to creative writing as a full time career, Caroline was an editor and web producer for New York City nonprofits and prosocial media companies, including DoSomething.org, Tonic and MTV Act. As a freelancer, she has contributed to an extensive catalogue of online media and print outlets. Caroline has worked as an English teacher for ESL programs in India, Spain and New York City. Once upon a time, she acted a bit and recorded music. She still sings and plays piano and is as crazy as ever about going to the theatre and to the movies.
Caroline holds a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Southern California and an M.A. in a self-designed program from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
